Robert C. Welliver, Sr, MD, is professor in the Department of Pediatrics at the State University of New York at Buffalo, School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences. He is also co-director of the Division of Infectious Diseases and attending physician at the Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo in New York.
A fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics and the Infectious Diseases Society of America, Dr Welliver belongs to such professional societies as the American Association of Immunologists, the American Pediatric Society, the American Society for Microbiology, the American Thoracic Society, and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society. He has received the Louis A. and Ruth Siegal Award for Excellence in Teaching from the State University of New York at Buffalo School of Medicine and Biomedical Sciences and the Frederick B. Wilkes Award for Teaching from the pediatric residents at Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo. In addition, Dr Welliver has been listed in The Best Doctors in America since 1998.Dr Welliver is currently on the editorial boards for Current Reviews in Pediatrics and Pediatric Pulmonology and has served on the editorial board for Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal. He is a reviewer for numerous publications, including Journal of Immunology, Journal of Infectious Diseases, Journal of Pediatrics, Pediatric Infectious Disease, Pediatric Pulmonology, The New England Journal of Medicine, and The Lancet. Dr Welliver has authored more than 175 articles in such journals as Journal of Immunology, Journal of Infectious Disease, Journal of Pediatrics, and The New England Journal of Medicine.
Dr Welliver received his medical degree from the College of Medicine at the University of Florida in Gainesville.
