Jay M. Lieberman, MD, is a professor of clinical pediatrics at the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine in Orange, California and on staff at Miller Children’s Hospital in Long Beach, California.

Dr Lieberman serves on the editorial boards for Infectious Diseases in Children, The Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, and The Vaccine Quarterly. He is a member of the American Society for Microbiology, the Infectious Diseases Society of America, the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society, and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. Since 1999, the Golden Apple Teaching Award has been presented to him by the University of California, Irvine School of Medicine 7 times. In 2006, Miller Children’s Hospital presented him with the Faculty Teaching Award for the fourth time. Dr Lieberman has written over 60 peer-reviewed articles, book chapters, abstracts, and reviews defining and discussing a variety of aspects of infectious diseases and vaccine development and dissemination.

Dr Lieberman received his medical degree from the New York University School of Medicine in New York City. He completed his pediatric internship/residency, along with his fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases, at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles in California.

Dr Lieberman indicated that he is a retained consultant and a member of the speakers bureau for GlaxoSmithKline, MedImmune, Inc., Merck & Co., Inc., and Sanofi Pasteur; and has received research grant support from MedImmune, Inc. and Merck & Co., Inc.
