Stan L. Block, MD, FAAP, is professor of clinical pediatrics at the University of Kentucky College of Medicine and the University of Louisville Medical School in Lexington and Louisville, Kentucky, respectively. In addition, he has been a full-time pediatrician in private practice in Bardstown, Kentucky, for over 25 years.

Dr Block is a member of several medical societies, including the Pediatric Infectious Disease Society and the American Academy of Pediatrics’ sections on infectious diseases and behavior and development. He is also a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. He has been the recipient of the following awards: the 2002 and the 2003 Burtis Breese Award by the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society, the 2001 Charles Bluestone Award by the American Society of Pediatric Otolaryngology Society, and the 1998 Practitioner Research Award by the American Academy of Pediatrics.

Dr Block has been published extensively in journals such as the Journal of Pediatrics, Journal of Pediatric Surgery, Pediatrics, and the Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal, among others. He serves on the editorial boards for Infectious Diseases in Children, Pediatric Annals, Pediatric Drugs, and the Pediatric Infectious Disease Journal. Dr Block received his medical degree from the University of Kentucky Medical School in Lexington, Kentucky, and completed his postgraduate work in pediatrics at Bowman Gray School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, North Carolina.
