Target Audience

This educational activity is designed for pediatricians, pharmacists, nurse practitioners, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care and management of pediatric respiratory patients.

Learning Objectives

After participating in this activity, participants should be able to:
- Discuss the complexities of managing bronchiolitis illness in young infants and in premature infants whose airways are susceptible to more severe disease
- Determine the most appropriate methods to treat the secondary illnesses that often present along with a bronchiolitis infection
- Describe the risk factors for a severe respiratory syncytial virus (RSV) infection in premature infants and prepare a treatment plan for pediatric patients according to the 2006 Clinical Practice Guidelines issued by the American Academy of Pediatrics (AAP)
